UFC 331 video: Patricio Pitbull demolishes Doo Ho Choi in first round, calls out Jean Silva following knockout win
Patricio Pitbull admits he wasn’t himself in his first few fights in the UFC but he’s made the necessary adjustments as he showed with his knockout win over Doo Ho Choi at UFC 331 on Saturday.
The veteran Brazilian came out guns blazing and showed why he’s been a dominant force at featherweight for so many years. The former Bellator champion perfectly set up a combination that included a straight right hand that blasted Choi and actually froze him in mid-air before he went crashing to the canvas.
Pitbull followed up with a few more shots but it didn’t take long for the referee to realize this fight was already over as he quickly rescued the Korean featherweight from further harm. The end came at 3:28 in the first round with Pitbull getting the knockout win — his first in the UFC.
“I’m sorry about my last three fights,” Pitbull said after the win. “The pressure is bigger [in the UFC] but now I’m comfortable. Jean Silva, let’s see who is the dog!”
The featherweights were quick to start unloading heavy shots on the feet with Pitbull seemingly getting the better of the exchanges. Pitbull showed off his power again and again as he cracked Choi with nasty shots to the head and body.
Choi eventually found an opening for some of his strikes but he just couldn’t match the devastating counters coming from Pitbull. A well-time jab followed by a brutal straight right hand from Pitbull absolutely demolished Choi as he almost froze after the last punch landed.
Choi eventually crumbled to the ground and Pitbull just kept unloading shots until the referee saw enough and stopped the contest.
While it seems unlikely that Pitbull will get someone as highly ranked as Silva after that win, it still shows that he’s ready to challenge the best of the best at featherweight following an impressive knockout win at UFC 331.
