Jake Paul, MVP team up with Eddie Hearn for women’s boxing partnership, sign Skye Nicolson
Jake Paul and Eddie Hearn are officially joining forces.
On Tuesday, Paul and Hearn announced that Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions has partnered with Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing for “a strategic alliance to create more opportunities, bigger fights, and an even brighter future” for women’s boxing.
MVP and Matchroom are already, arguably, the leading promoters of women’s boxing in the world today, and previously co-promoted the trilogy of fights between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano that were broadcast on Netflix.
“Rather than competing in isolation, MVP and Matchroom Boxing will work together to identify career-defining opportunities for elite female athletes, support the continued growth of world championship competition, and help expand the global audience for women’s boxing through premium events, innovative storytelling, and increased commercial investment in the sport,” a release statement said.
Paul’s new partnership with Hearn has already borne fruit. Shortly after the announcement was made, WBC super-bantamweight Skye Nicolson announced her signing with MVP as part of the official partnership with Matchroom.
Women’s boxing is entering a new era, and I want to be right at the centre of it. This partnership with MVP and Matchroom gives me the opportunity to chase legacy, compete in the biggest fights out there, and help continue pushing women’s boxing forward.
My goal has always been to test myself against the very best and be involved in the biggest fights in women’s boxing. I truly believe this move puts me in the best possible position to do exactly that. I’m excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait for this next chapter of my career to unfold.
Nicolson will make her MVP event debut on MVPW 6 on Aug. 29 in Birmingham, England, where she will defend her WBC super-bantamweight world title in a 10-round defense at 122lbs against Japan’s two-division champion Miyo Yoshida.
