The UFC 332 fight card has a late shakeup.
The promotion announced Wednesday that Marcus McGhee (11-2) is now set to fight newcomer Anthony Romero (7-2, 1 NC) at this Saturday’s event in Salt Lake City. Romero steps in on just three days’ notice as a replacement for Bernardo Sopaj, who was forced to withdraw due to injury. The bout now takes place at featherweight after originally being scheduled for bantamweight.
McGhee recently got back on the winning track after suffering his first UFC loss to Petr Yan. “The Maniac” earned a unanimous decision nod over John Yannis this past June to improve his octagon record to 5-1. He is currently No. 15 at 135 pounds in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings.
Romero has competed primarily for Los Angeles’ Up Next Fighting promotion. In his most recent fight, he successfully defended the UNF bantamweight title with a first-round knockout over Yuma Horiuchi.
UFC 332 is headlined by a vacant flyweight title fight between Natalia Silva and Wang Cong.
