MarQuel Mederos took Mason Jones’ best shots and came back with a vengeance at UFC Sacramento.

The lightweight sluggers were expected to deliver an exciting contest Saturday and they didn’t disappoint as they spent the better part of one and a half rounds laying into each other with hard strikes and combinations. In the end, Mederos backed Jones to the fence and unleashed a furious flurry to earn the second-round knockout.

Watch the thrilling finish below.

Even with Mederos bearing down on him, Jones attempted to answer back, and never actually hit the mat before referee Jason Herzog stepped in for the stoppage, which came at the official time of 2:07 of Round 2.

Mederos (12-1-1) was up on the scorecards heading into the second round and didn’t let up en route to becoming the first fighter to finish Jones (18-3, 1 NC). This is Jones’ first loss in his second stint with the UFC. He had won his past three fights after re-signing with the promotion in 2025.

The win keeps Mederos’ perfect UFC record intact as he is now 4-0-1 inside the octagon.
